Do I need to rent a car?

Yes, you do. In order to be able to see all that Kauai has to offer, it is recommended to rent a car. The bus system on the island is not geared toward visitors, and has limits to what you may have with you. There is only one highway on the island, and the roads are surprisingly easy to navigate.

Where is the condo located within the resort?

The condo is located in a quieter, more private area of the resort, with little foot traffic. It is a short walk to the smaller round pool and barbeque area, and just a 3-4 minute walk to the main lagoon style pool. The beach (Pu'u Poa) shared by Hanalei Bay Resort and the St. Regis Resort is approximately a 10 minute walk. There are bellmen at the resort with golf carts who can take you anywhere on the property (including to and from the beach) at no charge.

Is there a restaurant/bar onsite?

The Bali Hai Restaurant was damaged due to a fire that occurred in July 2011, and is closed for renovations. It is anticipated to open in 2017. The Happy Talk Lounge is now open, and serves lunch and dinner with music until 9pm

Is there air conditioning?

New, energy efficient air conditioning units are located in the living room of 7102, the bedroom of 7102, and the bedroom of 7101 for your comfort. There are also ceiling fans in these rooms.

What is your cancellation policy?

A reservation deposit of 20% or $300 (whichever is greater) is required at the time of booking. The reservation deposit is non-refundable, and is applied to the total cost of the reservation. The remaining balance is due 30 days before arrival. Cancellations made within 30 days of the reservation will forfeit all rental and taxes paid, with the exception of the cleaning fee, which is refundable in this instance ONLY. Otherwise, the cleaning fee is not refundable. Purchasing trip insurance is generally inexpensive and highly recommended. Travel Guard is a great resource to look into, or you can research others.

When is check-in/check-out time?

  • Check-in time is at 4:00pm
  • Check-out time is at 10:00am

This applies to every reservation. A late check-out may be available for an additional fee. Please inquire for more information.

Are there any extra fees?

  • A cleaning fee is required for all reservations. The fee is $85 for 7101, $155 for 7102, or $200 for 7101-2.
  • Hawaii Tax of 14.42% is based on the rental rate only
  • Hanalei Bay Resort charges a fee of $20/day plus tax. The fee includes free self parking, free local and long distance calls, unlimited access to the tennis courts and pools, and free WIFI around the resort, complimentary bell service, and other amenities. The resort also provides a computer to print out boarding passes. The resort fee is payable to the front desk at check-out time, and rate is subject to change.
  • Excessive cleaning beyond normal wear and tear will be charged accordingly. Notice and receipts will be provided in this instance.

What is required to make a reservation?

For reservations more than 30 days in advance, a reservation deposit of 20% or $300 (whichever is greater) is required. The remaining balance is due 30 days before arrival. For reservations 30 days or less in advance, the full balance is required. There is no security deposit.

How do I make payment?

Payments for all reservations are payable to myself, the owner. We accept Visa and Mastercard, but do not accept checks.

How do I get keys?

Your keys are available from the front desk. All that you need to do when you arrive at the resort is go to the front desk, and give them your name and room number. They'll have your keys waiting for you! Remember to return all keys to the front desk at check-out time, as the resort does charge a fee for lost keys.

What housekeeping supplies are provided?

Fresh linens and the following starter supplies are provided free of charge. Additional supplies can be purchased at the sundry shop or the Foodland grocery store in the Princeville Shopping Center.

  • 2 rolls toilet paper per bath
  • 1 bottle hand soap per bath
  • 4 small trash bags per bath
  • 1 box Kleenex per bath
  • 1 roll paper towels in the kitchen
  • 5 trash bags in the kitchen
  • 1 large box of dishwasher detergent
  • 1 large bottle of dish soap
  • 1 coin sized box of washing machine detergent
