Frequently answered Questions
- What is the difference between renting from a private owner, and renting from the resort directly?
- As a private owner, I own and keep up my unit personally. I personally travel to Kauai usually 2 times/year to visit and make sure my unit is kept up to the high standards I demand for my guests. Renting from the resort directly (or through 3rd party websites like Hotels.com) does NOT guarantee you a specific room. You are left up to chance, and the renovated rooms with great views often go to the timeshare owners. By renting through a private owner, you know exactly which room you will be staying in, what your view is, and where you are located at the resort. You still have full access to the front desk and all of the amenities of the resort as my guest.
- Do I need to rent a car?
- Yes. In order to be able to see all that Kauai has to offer, it is recommended to rent a car. The bus system on the island is not geared toward visitors. There are limits to what you may have with you on the bus. There is only one highway on the island, and the roads are surprisingly easy to navigate.
- Where is condo unit 7101/02 located within the resort?
- The condo is located in probably the most private area of the resort with little foot traffic. It is a short walk to the lower pool and BBQ area, and just a 3-4 minute walk to the main lagoon style pool. The beach (Pu'u Poa) shared by Hanalei Bay Resort and the One Hanalei Hotel (currently under construction) is approximately a 10 minute walk. There are bellmen at the resort with golf carts who can take you anywhere on the property (including to and from the beach) at no charge.
- Is there a restaurant/bar onsite?
- Happy Talk Lounge is open as of Sept 1st. Please view their website for the most up-to-date info: http://www.happytalklounge.com/
- Is there air conditioning?
- Energy efficient air conditioning units are located in the living room of 7102, the bedroom of 7102, and the bedroom of 7101 for your comfort. There are also ceiling fans in these rooms.
- What is your cancellation policy?
- Purchasing trip insurance is generally inexpensive and recommended. The cost is minimal just in case something happens.
- When is check-in/check-out time?
- Check-in time is at 4:00 pm. Check-out time is at 10:00 am. Our cleaning crew needs time to get the unit ready for the next guest so please be ready to go by 10am on your checkout date.
- Are there any extra fees?
- The charges for your stay include the nightly rate, Hawaii taxes, and cleaning fee. Additional fees due to the resort: resort fee of $20/night plus tax, parking fee of $8/night plus tax (subject to change). A guest may incur additional fees from the Owner during their stay due to damage beyond the normal wear and tear, or due to excessive cleaning that occurred during their stay. Please read the rental agreement for more details.
- What is required to make a reservation?
- For reservations more than 30 days in advance, a reservation deposit of 25% is required. The remaining balance is due 30 days before arrival. For reservations 30 days or less in advance, the full balance is required. There is no security deposit required, but we do require authorization to charge for any additional cleaning or damages that occurred during the reservation to the card on file.
- How do I make payment?
- We are now fully able to take online bookings! You can select available dates, get a quote, and proceed to making your reservation securely on our website. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
- How do I get keys?
- Your keys are available from the front desk. All that you need to do when you arrive at the resort is go to the front desk, and give them your name and room number. They'll have your keys waiting for you! Remember to return all keys to the front desk at check-out time, as the resort does charge a fee for lost keys.
- Is Unit 1537 close to 7101/02 if we want to book both?
- Unit 1537 is at the other end of the resort. Only takes about 5 min to walk. Many families come to HBR and book more than one room. Although they are not attached, you are still together with plenty of room.
